Glass is an upcoming 2019 American superhero horror-thriller film written, co-produced and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. The film is a sequel to Shyamalan’s previous films Unbreakable (2000) and Split (2016), cumulatively forming the Unbreakable series, also known as the “Eastrail 177” trilogy. Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Spencer Treat Clark and Charlayne Woodard will be reprising their Unbreakable roles, while James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy will be returning as their Split characters, along with Sarah Paulson joining the cast.

Following the conclusion of Split, David Dunn (Bruce Willis) pursues Kevin Wendell Crumb’s (James McAvoy) superhuman persona of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters while the shadowy presence of Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson), going by “Mr. Glass”, emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

  • It took M. Night Shyamalan 20 years to make the trilogy, as the release date suggests (which is 2019). Unbreakable (2000) was being developed shortly after the success of The Sixth Sense (1999). Sixteen years later, Split (2016) came out and shortly after it, Glass (2019) was announced.
  • According to M. Night Shyamalan, Glass is “the first truly grounded comic book movie.”
  • James McAvoy plays 21 different personalities in this film, three times as many as he played in Split.
  • This will be the third film in as many years that Anya Taylor-Joy has starred opposite a character suffering from multiple personality disorder, following “Split” and “The Secret of the Marrowbone”.

  • Promotion

With a theatrical release set for 2019, Glass hasn’t been promoted much yet. However, Anya Taylor-Joy joined the cast and director M. Night Shyamalan on July 20, 2018 at Comic-Con International, in San Diego. While at the convention, they attended some parties, a Panel for the films Glass and Halloween, where details on both movies were revealed and later on, Conan’s Comic-Con Special.

While at Comic-Con International, Anya was photographed for various publications (even for Pizza Hut Lounge, where she stopped by while at the convention)!
